Mountaineer Hockey Program

The West Virginia University Hockey Club is a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) with teams in both Division I and Division II.

The team has a support system which includes six coaches, athletic training services, Hockey Student Management Organizations (HSMO), and an academic support program. Mountaineer Hockey administrative staff members, in concert with the coaching staff and academic coordinators all invest their time and talent to help the hockey players with academic progress toward a degree. The team's goal is to maintain an overall team grade point average of 2.8 or better each semester. This helps students maintain the proper perspective between athletics and academics and to further their growth in the WVU community.

Mountaineer Hockey Incorporated (MHI) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation organized for the sole purpose of managing and supporting the WVU Hockey program. The WVU Hockey club, a recognized student organization at WVU, affiliates itself with MHI to enable operation of a comprehensive sports program which has consistent quality continuity and competitiveness.
