Dear Friend,
The tradition of Mountaineer Hockey at West Virginia University began in 1968 and has grown to be one of the leading collegiate club hockey programs in the country. In 1991 WVU's Mountaineer Hockey was proud to be a founding member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, ACHA, which today has over 400 college and university hockey programs as members. Mountaineer Hockey strives to continue its tradition of leadership in collegiate hockey.
West Virginia University provides an excellent variety of academic options, the financial accessibility, and the strength of the WVU Hockey program has made the University an attractive option for prospective student athletes. The nationwide growth of club hockey and the ACHA has led to the development of a number of quality hockey programs. Many of these teams have the benefit of new ice rinks with first-rate locker room facilities similar to those of NCAA Division I programs. Despite WVU Hockey's tradition of leadership and many other strengths, absence of similar facilities makes it difficult for us to compete with other programs in attracting top-quality student athletes.
In order to continue building a legacy of excellence and quality, locker room facilities dedicated solely for WVU Hockey is a necessity to continue to compete for quality student athletes with elite programs such as Penn State, Ohio University, Illinois, Delaware, Rhode Island, Navy, and many other quality ACHA teams.
Each year, WVU Hockey depends on the generosity of alumni, friends, families, support staff, volunteers, dedicated coaches, home gate receipts, and mostly on player fees (which are raised yearly) to cover only the budget for that year. These funds are insufficient to finance any further projects.
Mountaineer Hockey, Inc., a non-profit 501c3 corporation, the managing arm of WVU Hockey, has established a Capital Campaign to ask for the generous financial support of alumni and friends to help preserve the rich tradition, to improve it further and thereby ensuring WVU Hockey in the forefront of the nation's elite programs.
Your contribution is fully tax deductible and will be used solely for the construction of a WVU Hockey locker room facility. Contributors will be recognized on a plaque located in the locker room.
Mountaineer Hockey Levels of Contribution are:
Hockey Coaches Club $ 1,000 or more
Team Builder $ 500 - $ 999
Blue & Gold Member $ 250 - $ 499
Blueliner $ 125 - $ 249
WVU Hockey Booster $ 75 - $ 124
WVU Hockey, the coaches, support staff and student athletes thank you for your consideration and generosity. Contribution can be made payable to Mountaineer Hockey and forwarded to the address above. For additional information, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Respectfully,

Dean Lakios
